Work Based Learning modules with Middlesex
University
There are a number of essential requirements that have to
be met to ensure that you meet the conditions for a University
award. These include:
• One third of the total number of credit points must
be obtained from studying modules selected from the set of
Institute of Work Based Learning modules
• Every participant must follow a work based project.
The project will be related to your own needs and interests
and will be canine-related. The project will be assessed by
two tutors, one from the University and one from CFBA.
There are additional modules that must be studied. These
additional modules vary with the level of qualification and
cover three areas:
• Recognition and Accreditation of Learning.
Modules in this area are designed so that the participants
develop a portfolio covering their past and present learning
and skills. The portfolio is assessed and participants can
be awarded credit points that will count towards the final
qualification. The number and level of credit points will
depend on the participant's relevant skills and experience
and it is probable that participants with limited experience
of working with dogs will obtain very little credit.
• Programme Planning.
This module is completed after the recognition and accreditation
of the learning modules. The objective is to map out your
future study programme for both WBL and CFBA modules so that
you have a coherent programme of work-based study. This will
include identifying the areas for any projects that you will
want to complete.
• Project planning and development.
Completing a project requires planning and management skills
to ensure that it is completed successfully. These modules
are designed to ensure that all participants have the necessary
skills and techniques before they embark on the project module
itself.
