Dogs and the law

This course will help you to gain an understanding of the laws which are applicable to anyone owning or in control of a dog. Some laws discussed are:

• Animal Welfare Act
• Dangerous Dogs Act
• Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act
• Control of Dogs Orders
• Hunting Act.
• Various other Acts and regulations relating to the control and welfare of dogs.

Normal minimum entry qualification:

The normal minimum entry qualification is that the student will have to meet at least one of the following criteria:

Has been in full or part-time work related to dogs. This may include boarding kennels, grooming, training, law-enforcement, military dog handling, assistance dog training.

Has owned at least one dog and attended training classes with it.
