Dr David Sands PhD FCFBA A course secretary in ichthyology at the Natural History Museum, David published scientific papers, described and named several new fish species. He has lectured on South American related natural history subjects at major events in Europe, Japan, USA and Canada and the Far East. He has made expeditions to Andes and to rainforest rivers of Guyana, Venezuela and the Brazilian Amazon. An Amazon catfish species, Corydoras davidsandsi, was named in his honour. His hundreds of magazine articles have been published around the world in pet retail and trade magazines and he was appointed the launch editor for Aquarium magazine. David was the first UK contributing editor to Freshwater and Marine Aquarium in the USA. His books include Ponds for Pleasure, Goldfishes, The Marine Aquarium, The Complete Aquarium, The Healthy Aquarium, Catfishes of the World, (volumes 1-5), Cichlids, South American Catfishes, African and Asian Catfishes, Fish health, Catfishes, (in ten languages), Central American Cichlids, South American Cichlids, Keeping Aquarium Fishes, Caring for Pets - Goldfishes, Cichlids and The Red-tailed Catfish Handbook, The Emperor of the Amazon. |
