Pet sitting theory advanced

Understand routine care for fish (cold water and tropical).
Understand routine care for rabbits & guinea pigs as pets.
Understand routine care for reptiles and amphibians.
Understand routine care for rodents.
Law in the outside world and your responsibilities
Dog walking equipment – rapid use in emergencies common behaviour problems you may encounter with the dogs you walk or dogs you may meet in public places.
Dog spotting friend or foe – a behavioural assessment of oncoming dogs

Phase 2 content workshop one day in Cambridgeshire

Dog handling assessment and training day; The candidate has to demonstrate an ability to handle many breeds and sizes of dogs, to control and assess basic canine behaviour traits and movement strategies to aid control.

We have our own facilities and a public park to allow the candidate to walk dogs on and off lead with many distractions and observe their handling abilities and most of all recall and general control within the law.

This phase is a highly structured programme building on the topics from the professional work environment covered earlier.

Phase 2 : In brief and at the workshop you will learn:

Handling Skills and person to person interaction
Breed specific drives and behaviours Equipment and its use
Emergency bite prevention skills Some basic obedience techniques
Multiple breed training techniques
Observe and identify dogs which may display nuisance behaviour
The use of the defence system when dogs attack your charges
Understanding the main tenets of the Dangerous Dogs Act
Testing your handling skills with dogs
Testing with large and small breeds
Line work where appropriate

Inside the home behaviour

This section offers a moderate advanced understanding of the dogs mind and moreover it looks at established dog behaviour in the home that sometimes you find difficult to cope with.

Outside the Home Behaviour

Cat behaviour in general in and outside the home.
