Hi
Colin
For me, as a Veterinary Nurse interested in Canine Behaviour
and promoting Responsible Dog Ownership I am constantly in the
company of academics ( even my Sister is a Veterinary Surgeon
! ). If I attend any Behaviour Seminars through work then the
lecturers tend to be of the highest standard and well known
Practitioners. Although I understand the content of the seminars
I sometimes fail to see the practicalities of the' treatment
plans' suggested for the average dog owner with the average
problem on an average wage ! This preys on my mind and I come
away thinking that I will never reach that academic level and
be recognised - in their eyes - as a Canine Behaviourist even
though I have great success and rapport with my clients, won
awards and well known locally etc for my work with dogs.
Even though the January Course on 'Dog to Dog Aggression' is
not a subject I wish to specialise in, I learnt a great deal
and certain aspects of aggressive Behaviour was clarified for
me and I am more knowledgeable in advising clients about their
dogs behaviour towards other dogs. I will be attending future
Courses, hopefully on subjects that I am more familiar with
and I will be able to contribute more.
Colin and his Colleagues made me feel very welcome and my profession
as a Qualified Veterinary Nurse was recognised, hopefully promoting
the role of the VN in owner education in problem prevention.
I came away from the Course feeling more confident in knowing
that I am making steady progress in becoming a full time Behaviour
and Training advisor and that my Practical experience has been
recognised as well as my academic achievements.
Thanks again to Colin and Ross and everyone at the CFBA.
See you soon

Another wonderful
informative day. Boosting confidence and learning new techniques
and methods. Now on to the next module (after completing Phase
3 of course!)

Had a really good day. Running a puppy
class was very nerve-wracking but well worthwhile. I felt
like I learned a lot and definitely would do it again. I really
enjoyed meeting tutors and students as well.

Had a really
good day. Everybody was very helpful. Liked the hands on experience.
I have done other courses before but then we would have to
deal with our own dogs or dogs we know so that was a different
experience. I learned a lot. Thanks to the whole team.

I really enjoyed
the course and found the information given was interesting
and it was taught in a very easy-to-understand way. Charlie
and Amanda were very helpful and informative. I found doing
the practical session very enjoyable and it has made me much
more confident.

Hi.
My name is Kate. Today I attended a practical of CFBA1101.
It was informative, easy-going and I definitely feel I have
learned a lot today. The instructors were friendly, always
there to help - a great way to learn. I wish there were more
practical days. I hope to increase the knowledge that I already
possess and further my education. A wonderful day.

Absolutely loved the day!! It was nerve-wracking,
but educational and friendly. Really happy with the tutors
who are all really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. It
was really nice to put names to faces!!! All in all, the day
was brilliant and informative - can't wait for the next one.

I found the day very informative. Everyone was friendly and
helpful. I felt very intimidated at first and nervous at holding
the class but the whole team helped, making me feel relaxed
and confident. The main thing I will take away with me today
is the confidence that I can hold a successful dog training
class. Doreen Joy

Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training
Course on Separation Anxiety, March 26th / 27th
Separation anxiety is the cause of an
increasing number of canine behaviour problems such as excessive
barking, howling, destructiveness and even self-mutilation
when dogs are left on their own. It is one of the biggest
problems for owners and a major cause of relationships breaking
down between humans and dogs, all too often resulting in dogs
being rehomed through the rescue system, or even ending up
euthanased. This perplexing problem, and its solutions, was
the subject of the fascinating course we recently attended:
Colin Tennant’s Rapid Response Separation Anxiety weekend
seminar on March 26th – 27th, held at the Old Palace
Lodge Hotel in Dunstable. Having attended a great variety
of canine behaviour courses and seminars, we found this one
exceptional. Colin Tennant’s extensive knowledge, gained
over many years of practical canine behaviour work, was imparted
in a structured and clear way using the latest technologies
of DVD and film combined with Mr Tennant’s inimitable,
incisive and dynamic lecturing style. He was ably assisted
by his CFBA colleague and fellow tutor, Ross McCarthy. Students
came away feeling they had learned something of great value,
knowledge that could be put straight into practice rather
than mere classroom theory. In all, a highly beneficial weekend
that we would recommend to anyone with a serious interest
in canine behaviour.

| I have gained a lot
from my experience today - thanks so much for letting me visit,
I now understand how the facility operates, the courses available
and the BA programme. Speaking to the tutors this morning really
helped me connect the dots in relation to my previous knowledge
in a very different arena. I'm definitely going to enroll on
whatever courses are available. Be in touch. Kate

| Dear
CIDBT. The
films were a blow out – never before had I been able
to see such professional in depth cases analysis. Beautifully
filmed. Gripping emotive scenes but real. It was like being
a part of the consultation. I would say a must for people
who want to see the acute end of canine behaviour.
