P = Practical workshops

The opportunity to work with our expert tutors is one of the aspects of our programmes that candidates say is most valuable. Some candidates may only wish to participate in these sessions and are not seeking a University qualification so it is possible to come along to just the practical elements of some modules at a lower cost than the normal module fee. Many experienced dog trainers dog behaviour practitioners or other persons who work in the canine industry simply wish to learn other new or established methodologies that work.

The Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme

The Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for instructors in training and canine behaviour is a membership scheme open to anyone working or wishing to work in the area of dog training and canine behaviour. All canine courses CIDBT are accepted towards accreditation within this scheme including P courses.

This module

Is all about dogs; dogs, dogs and more dogs... handling dogs and training dogs. Why do we approach a dog the way we do? Why not just go and give it a big hug? Why not talk to my dog all day? “It really does understand everything I say!” Why do we walk with our dog on the left? Why not the right? Why is it wagging its tail when it’s barking at me?

This module is aimed at the dog lover who wants to take their knowledge further either with their own dog or looking to venture into the world of dog training...

It is designed to teach you how to handle a dog and carry out basic dog training with it rather than teach you how to be a dog training instructor. The emphasis is on the beginner dog handler or dog trainer who has no teaching experience.

This workshop only module is held at the Kennel Club Education centre in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

This workshop is a relaxed, fun day covering basic dog handing and dog training techniques. Students are expected to bring a dog with them and will be sent a form to complete about their dog.

This includes:

The workshop is held at the Kennel Club Building Refreshments are provided throughout the day and lunch is available for purchase if required. There are 2 dates for workshops per year and you will be working alongside other students from a similar module.
