Dog Training and Behaviour Workshops

All workshops attached to the distance learning elements of our courses can be attended as a ‘stand-alone’ course, thereby allowing you to enjoy and learn from the workshop without the academic (written / research) work prior to attendance. After completing the workshop you will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. Our courses are designed so that the learners who attend the workshop are not disadvantaged by not completing prior distance learning.

We aim to make the workshop as relaxed, fun, enjoyable and informative as possible. The day will always start with tea, coffee and nibbles; introductions take place at the start of the day closely followed by the agenda of the day/weekend so that everyone can relax about what to expect and can concentrate on learning and enjoying the environment and content. We operate an informal style and your participation is greatly valued, but only if you wish; we do not put pressure on people at all during the workshops as we know that a safe, fun and supported environment is the most conducive to learning.

All workshops will contain lectures, educational films, and informal assessments, and, depending upon the course you’ve enrolled on, handling and working with dogs, interviewing clients, temperament testing and much more.

Our workshops are held at either, The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, or the Chartridge Conference Centre in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. A buffet lunch is provided as well as refreshments throughout the day.

Below are all the workshops, together with enrolment details.

CIDBT 5005W Advanced Professional Instructor Skills

AThis two day workshop is designed to enhance knowledge gained so far to manage and teach as a professional Instructor

As an advanced instructor you will be expected, (having completed the first two phases of this module) to understand the importance of being able to give constructive feedback to other instructors when required to do so to enable that person to gain from both the positive and negative learning outcomes.

As such, as an absolute minimum, you must have a one year training experience and have completed CIDBT 4005 Professional Instructor Skills and Management course (or equivalent) along with further year’s practical hands on experience in giving instruction within the arena of dog training.

Training needs analysis determines what learning and development interventions are needed to change attitudes and behaviours of the trainer. The role of the instructor is to design and deliver learning to enable people to perform better in their workplace

Bearing this in mind to maximise the benefits of any learning experience it has to be the right experience for the student to meet their development needs, and the feedback has to be constructive and beneficial to that person.

The students will be spending much of their time working their own dogs under instruction from their peers, as well as observing other students giving instruction and giving them appropriate feedback as an Advanced Instructor. This being the main crux of the learning process  This workshop is held at the Kennel Club Building, Warwickshire.
